“Chill Factor” Band For New Year’s Ball
The band, “Chill Factor with John Tracy”, will be playing at the December 31 New Year’s Eve
Ball in Seward. The band has played many New Year’s events, usually at the big hotels in
Anchorage. Popular newscaster John Tracy, of Channel 2 TV fame, heads the band and does
vocals. Two band members toured the Alaska Railroad cruise ship terminal where the ball will
be held, and were impressed with the facility size and accommodations. “We are very excited
to be playing in Seward this year,” said band spokesman M. J. Riemann.
The party kicks off the fundraising campaign for the new Library Museum project and will be
dubbed the “49ers’ Ball, Countdown to 50”. Mary Tougas, event planner, notes that in 2008
Alaska will celebrate 49 years of statehood. “The party will surely be the first one in the state in
the countdown to the 50th”, she said.
